Prophylaxis / PZR

Aim of the prophylactic measures:

➔ Keep your teeth/gums healthy for as long as possible!

In order to optimally protect your teeth from caries, periodontitis and gum inflammation, we offer the following treatments for children, adolescents and adults:

• Removal of the ZST (= removal of hard dental plaque) 
• PZR (= professional teeth cleaning): Cleaning and polishing of your teeth and gums with removal of hard and soft plaque to reduce unwanted oral bacteria. A mineral gel/fluoride gel is then applied to make your tooth surfaces more resistant to bacterial acids. This is accompanied by in-depth oral hygiene coaching based on the latest scientific findings and nutritional advice.
• UPT (= supportive periodontal therapy): more extensive than the PZR, as in addition to cleaning and polishing the teeth, the root surfaces are cleaned under local anesthetic if necessary
• Fissure sealing: The depressions on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth are filled with a liquid sealing material to prevent caries from developing there. In the vast majority of cases, no drilling is necessary.
• Deep scaling/curettage with sonic support on request -> please refer to the menu item "Periodontitis with recall system"
• Medication carrier splints: We manufacture customized medication trays for you to use at home. Using fluoride gel for 2 minutes per week can reduce caries by up to 50%. Alternatively, fluoride-free mineral gels can also be used. Hyaluronic acid gel can be used to treat gum inflammation/periodontitis.
